I'm right now eating my own concerns because this is a really good album.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

How come you were unsure about getting it? I still haven't heard it. Is it as good as The '59 Sound?

The first time I heard The '59 Sound I didn't really like it, which is why I was concerned about getting it, but now that I enjoy this album, I'm going to give the '59 Sound another listen, because American Slang doesn't sound all too different.

I thought the 59' sound was a solid album, I hope American Slang is better. Gonna give it a listen tonight.

If you thought the '59 Sound was a solid album, then you will not be disappointed, and I'm giving the 59' Sound another listen and it's certainly turning into a grower.

Dalek - Absence (2004)

I forgot how heavy this album is. The samples are just hard as nails and the production makes it just creepy, like the kind of stuff you'd expect to be listening to while wandering through an old asylum or factory.

It is of the electronic variation. Some hip-hop influence, perhaps if you're a fan of Prefuse 73 and Dimlite you'd like this (there is no heavy use of vocal samples here though). There is some really thick funky bass in here, for lack of a better way to describe it. I've posted this first one a few times in various threads:

This one's from the previous album, which is also great:
