Stolen Babies - There Be Squabbles Ahead (2006) Amazing avant-garde metal album with cabaret influences. Dominique Lenore Persi does a great job alternating between clean and harsher vocals and she plays a god damn accordion. They really need to come out with a new album... |

Bob Dylan - Good As I Been To You RE my Dylan binge of late, this here's one of his 90s album of traditional folk covers, and it's nowhere near as dull as I thought it'd be. I'd even go as far as saying it's quite a good album. Wonderful guitar-work throughout. I love getting the odd musical pleasant surprise like this every now and then. |

Shipping News - Flies the Fields
Ahh yes, this album is so good and really their best IMO. The band was formed by Jeff Mueller and Jason Noble (both formerly of Rodan, with Jeff later in June of 44 and Jason later in Rachel's). If you like Slint and any of those bands, I suggest you check this out.

Spiderland - Slint
I used to always look at it as really overrated but after finally giving it a couple more listens I'm starting to really get into it, and with that I've been getting back into math rock. Quote:

Hanging on By a Thread by The Letter Black I got this album going to a Skillet Concert last month(TLB was the opening),I listened to their samples and decided to buy the CD while I was there, because we got it 1 month early. I love this album, and it's their very first Album,I also look forward to buying, and hopefully they get better as they progress. These guy are already in my top 5 favorite bands. When it comes to female lead Rock singers,no one can beat TLB. |

Cool which one did you get? The only one I don't like is Anahata. Though I suppose it could grow on me, it's just a big departure from their sound.

Currently, I'm digging this album: Z.Z. Hill - The Down Home Soul of Z.Z. Hill Lately I've really been craving alot of soul and blues music, so a friend of mine sent me a link to this RYM list of Southern Soul albums. Some fantastic finds there, and that's where I found Z.Z. Hill. This isn't the album that was on the list, but I'm extremely pleased with the one I found. Soul and blues pretty much overlap most of the time, and I think this album is great example of both sounds coming together. Plus, he's from Texas, and I do like to give props to artists from home. Have a listen if ya care to. There aren't necessarily the best songs on the album, but youtube is limited.
