Defiance, Ohio- The Great Depression
|
Oooh I'm liking this thread. I've just spent about an hour reading all the posts!
I'm loving: Black Sheep Boy Appendix - Okkervil River. It has to be my favourite album. I love the dark lyrics, the passion, the music...just incredible rip your heart out music! Favourite tracks - Another Radio Song, Black Sheep Boy, Last Love Song for Now. Land - Patti Smith I've only downloaded the first disc of this album so far and I'm totally hooked. Patti is such a passionate singer, I love her! Favourite songs at the minute - When Doves Cry, Frederick and Paths that Cross Nuclear Daydream - Joseph Arthur I can't believe that so few people have taken to Joseph. He has an incredibly beautiful voice and his songs are rather perfect. I guess his occasional reference to being 'saved' may put some off. I love this particualr album, its less anguished than some of his previous and just feels very chilled. Favourite songs...Slide Away and You are Free. BTW its lovely to know so many people love Elliott. |
The American Gangster Soundtrack.
Laugh at me, call me names, all that. But, and I usually hate soundtracks for being so scattered (Forrest Gump and such aside), but this thing I'm really digging. Old blues/r'n'b/soul numbers combine with Anthony Hamilton's new (I guess you'd call it r'n'b or neo-soul) track - Do Ya Feel Me?, with a few movie scores like 100 Percent Pure, Frank Lucas, Nicky Barnes, Club Jam... and the Bobby Womack song! Swear to God, after I watched the movie I went straight out and bought the soundtrack solely for Across 110th Street, played it on repeat for 3 hours. Whoever scored the movie would be great at making mixed CDs for a living, like Rob from High Fidelity. Good ****. |
Can - Tago Mago
Amon Düül II - Yeti Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance Art Ensemble of Chicago - Les stances à Sophie Klaus Schulze - Irrlicht |

Pink Floyd- Meddle Imo Floyd at their best after the departure of Syd, they really came into their own on this album. This is often overlooked as is everything before DSOTM, but this is just better than Dark Side. Fav Tracks: Echoes- Pink Floyd's best song it's just so epic. A Pillow of Winds- Just loves David's soft voice, reminds me off Julia Dream another often overlooked song One of These Days- Love the 2 basses and the bit were Nick says 'One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces' sounds like a giant ogre or some type of monster you might encounter while exploring a cave, always scares me. http://www.studio18.co.uk/shop/image..._side_30th.jpg Pink Floyd- Dark Side Of The Moon The album that made them huge and is often considered on of the best albums of all time. I don't feel that way but It's a really great album, that documents human feelings, greed, conflict, fear of death, an overview of life. Well that's what I got when I heard it for the first time. Fav Tracks: Speak To Me/Breathe- Probably the most relaxing track you'll ever hear. LOVE the slide guitar and the lyrics are just beautiful own their own. Time- Truly an amazing song in every sense of the word. The lyrics are some of the best I've ever heard. 'Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day. You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town. Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.' Everyone has felt that way in their life and If you say you haven’t you’re lying. Any Colour You Like- One of my Fav instrumentals by the Floyd Brain Damage- An Ode to Syd Barrett Eclipse- This song shows us that at the end of it all we're all in this together, we all do the same things in life love, hate, ect and that we're pretty small when it comes to the scale of universe. http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...2.LZZZZZZZ.jpg Radiohead- Kid A Much more experimental than it's predecessor Ok Computer it's also my fav of the 2. Not only is the sound great but the lyrics are also show in a form of abstract art, 'Yesterday I woke up sucking on a lemon'. This albums also reminds me alot of Pink Floyd. Fav Tracks: Everything In Its Right Place- Just brilliant Thoms voice breaking on and off is just awesome. The National Anthem- I really love the bass, and the saxophones wailing at the end. Optimistic- I love the pretty simple guitar work. The first time I heard this I thought the song was about being pessimistic. I thought the chorus went 'the best you can isn't good enough' when in fact it's 'the best you can is good enough' http://a1.vox.com/6a00cd9786571ff9cc...7d490005-500pi Radiohead- Airbag/How Am I Driving? [EP] I remember Luke saying this is just as good as one of their albums well I agree this is the best EP I have heard. Fav Tracks: ALL OF THEM |
Quote:
And I'm sorry but nothing that Syd ever did could compare to Meddle or most of the Waters era (save The Wall and The Final Cut, what a pile of shite). Piper was good, but not THAT good. Glad you enjoy it as much as I do. My favorite Floyd album by far. |
Dig Lazarus Dig!!! - Nick CAve and the bad seeds
In rainbows like evryone else in the music world The whip- x marks the destination scientist rids the world of the evil curse of the vampires - oh i love dub the presets - apocalypso |
Well I finally broke down and bought Dark Side Of The Moon. I've been meaning to for a really long time, but kinda always forgot about it when I was getting new music. I love the album so much, I've been listening to it all day.

Silversun Pickups-Carnavas Not my usual sort of thing and it is a little fluffy in places, but there is enough on here for me to play it a few times at work. http://media.virginmega.fr/Covers/Zo...0610233902.jpg Babamars-Whatever Happened To All Our Pioneers Catchy pop rock. 'nuff said. http://www.plong.com/MusicCatalog/P/...0Creatures.jpg Psychonauts-Songs For Dreaming Trip Hoppy ambient floaty lo-fi loveliness. http://lyricssothatidonthavetokeepse...lbum-cover.jpg Spinto Band-Nice And Nicely Done Good solid guitar twinkled pop. |

Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express Really digging Kraftwerk at the moment, always thought they were more hard work than it was worth so never bothered but lately it's clicked. It's this album at the moment getting the most plays, due to the sinister feel of the title track and Showroom Dummies, the amazingly atmospheric Hall Of Mirrors and the ambient Europe Endless. |
