Japanther - Skuffed Up My Huffy
Wow. What an awesome sound. Reminds me a bit of Death From Above with the bass and drum combo, but Japanther is much more "noisy". I love their use of samples too. '$100 Cover' is a great song... |

One of the few albums that both my father and I agree is near impeccable; amidst a lot of lame AOR that raped airwaves around the late 70's, this sucker still burns nicely in the present day.

Swans - Soundtracks For the Blind One of the most brain-meltingly immense mindfuck albums and absolutely spot on for this time of night. Kinda wish I'd heard it when I was doing the top 100 now. "Everyone knows that you are fucked up, and everyone knows that I am fucked up, but does anyone know that you are more fucked up than me?" |

^ Latter-day Swans is sooooo good, makes their eternal '80s output sound like trash. And considering how good their early material was, that's certainly saying something. Public Castration Is a Good Idea, White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and The Great Annihilator are all fantastic too.

Choir Of Young Believers - This Is For The White In Your Eyes
"Hollow Talk" is definitely my favorite song. I love the way it builds up and the fact that the song is both melancholic but also somewhat hopeful. It's such a beautiful album! last fm describes them/him as "somewhere between low key folk and orchestral indie pop".. usually i like music to be simple, but even though they use lots of different instruments and the music gets a little grandiose sometimes it doesn't bother me at all with this album |

Erik Satie - Piano Works Absolutely gorgeous stuff. As far as classical piano goes, it's a lot less crazy than some of the Rachmaninov I've heard, yet so richly textured and colourful. Straight out of the top drawer then (judging by the first listen at least). |
