V/A - Remember Then
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg This here's the closest I got to getting a musical education from my Dad, meaning it's one of very (very) few albums he and I share a taste for. Some truly great songs on this one, for instance... V/A - Absolute Beginners OST http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg And talking of 50s-related stuff, I've been digging this one like ditches lately (again). Terrible movie, but what a soundtrack - it's just jam-packed with terrific songs. Like this one... |

Stinking Lizaveta - Scream of the Iron Iconoclast Prog-Metal Instrumental from Philly. Not too heavy, but there a tint of math-rock incorporated to keep me on my toes. This is a three piece with two brothers and a female drummer who looks like she would rip your head off. Ooh, and how could I forget - the upright electric bass. :) I've got a link if you're interested. This song a bit slower, but it's live and the quality is pretty good. It's just what I'm listening at the moment. Once you click on the video, you'll be able to find more songs by them. Enjoy. |

It's been a while since I listened to this, but the (smog) thread on the Indie board made me dig it out and... well damn. I'd actually forgotten how totally ****ing amazing it is. |

Woohoo!
Tomahawk - Mit Gas http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg For those that don't know, Tomahawk is Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, etc), Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard, Firewater), John Stanier (Helmet, Battles), and (for the first two albums only) Kevin Rutmanis (Melvins). This was their second album of three, and I'm ready for a fourth. |

I go back and forth between the two...so I guess that means they're on even ground for me.
