Absolutely. I went to a pizzeria this weekend and they had a live jazz band playing...composed entirely of white dudes reading sheet music. All I could think about is John's face on the cover of this record, which is the look he would have given those dudes playing their white boy jazz. Love it!

Haha awesome! I wish I could do the "Love Supreme" face...
When I was in New Orleans I saw a guy who looked just like Coltrane playing sax in a cuban jazz band... played like him too. They did his arrangement of Summertime, from My Favorite Things. Great song! |

That's rad. Jazz is awesome, when you do it right. I totally fall under the white boy/girl category though. The only jazz I've ever played is from sheet music. So lame.

I know I started listening to them with this album (and that it's much more known in the mainstream) but I still think it's a good album. I only wish I'd heard of them sooner, through a less accessible album too I guess. |
