Why?-Alopecia Finally checked these guys out after all of the chatter about them on this board. Should have done it a lot sooner, this album is burrowing its way into my skull bit by bit. I downloaded Eskimo Snow as well but I haven't even gotten around to it, I keep going back to Alopecia.

Yep got those 2, also 'Margerine Eclipse'. 'Dots And Loops' only arrived in the post a few days ago so early days with that but sounds good. You can hear John McEntire's influence on it, shades of later period electronic Tortoise.

Siouxsie and the Banshees - Kaleidoscope
I didn't care much for it the first time (last week) but I'm digging it now.

I've been finding myself increasingly enamoured with David Sylvian's work of late, which is of course why I'm giving this a spin at the moment. It's basically an early-90s Japan reunion album under a different moniker. It's a mostly instrumental kinda cross between new wave, ambient and jazz (to varying degrees), and produces a very ghostly-sounding result. And this one's a kinda bridge between the more accessible, pop stylings of Talk Talk and their latter-day, Spirit Of Eden/Laughing Stock, avante-garde era. Top stuff in other words. |
