I know these albums aren't really new but I've just started to listen to them last year and I'm enjoying them. Maybe I've even become a fan of these bands. Anyway...

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! and Fever To Tell
Metric - Fantasies

Nothing says what we post in this thread has to be new. Have a look around, there is stuff much much older than the albums you mentioned.

I still can't believe someone with a Black Metal background would end up making such gorgeous stuff!

I read in an interview that the guy had just listened to a lot of Chapterhouse and MBV for the first time and was inspired to make this instead of another black metal album. To me he nails the classic shoegaze sound more than any other band in the current shoegaze revival scene (not that Alcest has anything to do with that). What's interesting is that it's a black metal musician who was new to the music to make a great shoegaze album while all the MBV-fan-bands in the world still can't.

I know! He's a pretty incredible mofo.. he must be endowed with some TRUE talent. It's kind of bizarre that both him and Caïna dabble in both black metal and shoegaze (or a summation of the two). Caïna has a really strange style though.. you never know what to expect from him
