Stuff I've been hammering lately:
I've probably posted about Brainiac a while ago but I don't think I paid them the attention they deserve. Turns out Hissing Prigs is a really damn fine glitchy noise rock album.

My favorite clash release for sure. In 1980, before Sandinista! dropped in America, critics believed that Bruce Springsteen's forthcoming The River would greatly overshadow the Clash's release commercially and critically because it was a double album. As the triple album Sandinista! went on to huge success in the U.S., The Clash responded "Suck on this, Bruce."

someone made a thread about this band in the electronic section. i have listened to it 4 times in a row now - i just can't get enough of it. it's lazy yet soulful. mix of ambient electronic and downbeat sounds topped with sexy, syrupy vocals. it's incredible. all that from a swedish band with a japanese/american singer

^ The last album Joe Strummer ever worked on, released posthumously and after a couple of listens to the whole thing, I can't find a single thing wrong with it. There's a lot more acoustic guitar than you'd imagine on an album with Strummer's name on it, but it still utilises everything that made the Clash great and gives it that kinda new twist. I've had it barely twelve hours and I already love it. ^ And I'm just blaring this one out at the moment. Easily one of XTC's best. Much more orchestrated, kinda ethereak and so different from any of their other albums too. |

Shpongle- Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland. Oh god where do I start with this thing? It's like a middle eastern street musician discovered electronic music and psychedelics. Good stuff. The only other Shpongle I've heard is 'Tales of the Inexpressible', but this beats it by a mile.
