The complete recordings of one of the 60's most notorious also-rans, the Idle Race. They had some big celebrity fans apparently (the Beatles etc) but never cracked the UK, let alone overseas. Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra and Roy Wood of the Move started here. Compellingly inventive songwriting - some real lost gems to be found... peppered with some real toytown-psychedelia twaddle. Great. The later 'mature' stuff is tiresome MOR. |
the most underappreciated albun in existence is gene clarks white light. it goes to show us that the boomers were manipulated by the same commercial forces the we are. to let this album go neglected during their time undercuts any credibility in sayng they were the champions of good music

if anybody read my very long, very bitter anti-UK hardcore rant in some dance thread or other I will look like the biggest idiot right now. But YOU try being pounded into submission for a week by 170-200 BPM pikey ****e and see if it doesn't rub off on you. Plus I recently learned that John Peel played happy hardcore on his show. So therefore it deserves a chance right?

The album that's been in my stereo for the past month is Derek Truck's "Live at the Georgia Theatre". Now I know it's a live album but I just can't get enough of it. Anybody ever have the privilege to see Derek?
