I don't really listen to many new bands but when it comes to bands from this decade I've liked
Pour Habit - punk
Hella - Math Rock, Noise Rock, Experimental
Rebelution - Reggae
The Flaming Tsunamis - ska-punk
The Mars Volta are pretty decent

I don't know why it took so long for me to listen to Bowie. Anyway, I started with his self-titled debut released in 1967, and I'm digging it for now. The next on my list is his second album "Space Oddity".

His debut is a joke. Space Oddity, save a song or two isn't much better. The Man Who Sold the World is where Bowie's genius really starts to show...

the Horrors 'Primary Colours' (2009)

It's a blurry out-of-focus album cover which belies the My Bloody Valentine/Jesus&Mary Chain-hijacking post-punk contained within. Fair enough, they wear it on their sleeves and it turned out great. The Horrors here are unrecognizable as that 'novelty' garage group you vaguely remember from a few years ago, it's a total U-turn, and lead-off single 'Sea Within A Sea' is the unexpected motorik detour and my favourite track. Stupidly postmodern and like everything I suppose, but good fun nonetheless. Although.. I've had this album for most of the year now and there's an inescapable feeling of having opened a Kinder egg to find they left the toy out. German bastards

Spot on

The only reason I ever really listen to the guy's debut these days is to get a load of Come On Buy My Boys - superb little number that. I'm not a huge fan of Space Oddity either. The 70s is where it's at when it comes to Bowie.

Well I'm sure it's not his best, but it's pretty much soaked in the 60s spirit, what's not to enjoy.
