All I Need is a magnificent song though... I was thinking more of the sound and rhythm of the track.... Thom's world view is much darker, All I Need, to me is more about being impoverished for love, food, attention, whatever, than it being a song about being deeply in love with someone....

Trip-hop, opera, low-key soul and nu-jazz freakouts are the name of the game here on this awesome release, reminding me a bit of Amon Tobin crossed with early Portishead at their most oblique and compelling. How this got lost in the woodwork is a mystery...

Grabbing that just on artwork alone.

It's no problem dude; you just need to take into consideration that there are threads to talk back and forth endlessly about U2 and Radiohead...and this is not the one. The albums that people post up will get lost and forgotten amidst your conversation.

LoathsomePete: I can link you up if you want it at 320 kbps.

How dare someone be this hot without coming across as a complete tool. Damn you Mr. Green.

Wait a second now,

This thread would be pretty stale if it was just a list of albums that people are "digging" and nothing more. We were engaging in conversation that was not just on topic but entirely relevant to what scottsy's original post was.

Look, I understand that you might not like U2 or Radiohead (it's almost painfully clear) but this is a little much. We were just talking.

Anyway, I revisited this one earlier today. Better than last time I listened to it.

'Bistriji ili tuplji čovek biva kad...' (1981)

Stunning album from the former Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia (they came from what is now Serbia), but with an artier and more political edge than their post-punk Yugoslav contemporaries, i love these guys, they immediately make you feel guilty for moaning about anything and evoke cold brutalist architecture and cheap car factories, love it.
If that sounds a bit heavy then a) piss off and listen to some Modest Mouse, and b) they were also by far the most talented of the Yugo-punks and switch it up quite a bit, working in some new wave and ska but retaining that absence of middle range that characterizes the coolest post-punk albums

If you don't have this album sort it out!

the guitarist is a genius, they obviously knew their gang of four, great footidge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P9T11hS5do

That actually sounds pretty awesome.

I picked up a bunch of Yugoslavian post punk a while back but I seemed to have missed them.

They sound a lot like Adam & The Ants first album to me.

This has been on my wish list for quite some time, but I've yet to pick it up. I shall do so now.

OOO - Upon Cycles

Haven't played this one in a few years. Abstract electronic music in the vein of Autechre, but at times more playful and definitely more melodic, even if still mostly cold.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
