i think maybe i just have a particularly ****ty quality mp3 'copy' of the album, a bad vinyl rip or something, i always assumed they scraped it up from demo tapes as it was a posthumous release. should give it another session and report back. Mind you, it takes a long while listening to either of their records and cross-referencing some of the abstract lyrical turns on the net to fully appreciate how cool they were. It seems to me that the most Nation-orientated groups in this period were the most florid with their rhymes, some of the best outlandish slang that maybe only pops up once or twice, anywhere

Devin Townsend Project - Addicted!

I managed to score a leaked copy of the 2nd album of a 4 album project. It has Devin Townsend's name on it so I'm pretty much predisposed to liking it because of my fanboydom for Devin. This has a far more upbeat and danceable feel to it than all of Devin's other solo works. This album also seems much simpler, no real deep meaning to any of the songs, but rather a "have a good time" feeling to them. This album will definitely assuage some of the feelings fans had after hearing Ki because it's a lot harder in style. I just listened to a 30 minute interview with him explaining the four albums in this series and it makes Ki make a lot more sense, as well as the demise of Strapping Young Lad. After hearing about the other two albums in the series I have to say I'm incredibly excited for the next one, Deconstruction because it's apparently suppose to be just as chaotic as Strapping Young Lad but retaining the melodic nature that makes Devin's solo work so amazing.

An upload of this would be unreal.

Still can't get enough of this after about 6 or 7 listens in the last few weeks. It's all basically uber-cool big band jazz, featuring a few contributions from Ray Davies, the Style Council, Gil Evans, Slim Gaillard, David Bowie etc. Top soundtrack, awful film.

One of a few truly great albums I've picked up from Zarko's journal, I dug this one out for the first time in a while last night. Amazing album - a finger-licking good mix of upbeat and downtempo electronica with a few ambient soundscapes thrown into the mix.

I need to crank it out myself actually.

Sir - The Night I met My Second Wife

Not for everyone, downbeat acoustic folk from Ausland. I dunno, I really like it despite it being pretty set in its way.

It's just one guy, but yeah he's awesome. Or WAS awesome. :mad: On his first few albums he produced and rapped, then he switched to instrumental. As for Ninja Tune, there is definitely some great stuff on the label, but I don't like everything...and there's way too much for me to ever consider going through it all. My favs would be Amon Tobin, Sixtoo, Blockhead, DJ Vadim (though his last one hasn't appealed to me), and One Self.
