Reviewing some Blur tonight in the form of "The Great Escape"d... an album in their catalogue that is much derided and put down, but I think its actually brimming with great punchy ironic songs and a sense of modern "lostness" that still speaks to me to this very day... a really great album with some actually fairly insightful lyrical observations...

Now moved a little later down the Blur timeline to listen to Think Tank, they're very excellent last studio album... very, very good album... lots of different sounds and moods coming through the headphones... I liked this alot when I first got it..... but now with a bit of age behind me, I am recognising this as the truly wonderful album it is!

^ A name I've been meaning to check out for a ridiculously long time now. I would've done earlier if his albums weren't rare as hen's teeth. Brilliant album this - comes across as gothic country to me, which is quite something considering this album was released in 1969.

^ Fast working its way up my list of favourites. I reckon it's Amorphous Androgynous' best album, coming up with a fantastic mix of ambient, down-tempo and neo-psychedelia. Another brilliant piece of work - still can't get enough of it.

^ And I very much doubt I'll ever get bored of this one.

Revisiting some Pumpkins tonight, namely the much maligned and misunderstood Machina, which I actually think is a damn good rock record with a really dense, busy sound... which some see as fault in the album's production, but I really love it... all those little details ofr my ears and brain to pick through.... its still one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins albums...

I haven't heard all of the Smashing Pumpkins albums but Machina might be my favorite. My favorite overall song by the band is Raindrops + Sunshowers.

Digging: Jay Reatard - Watch Me Fall

Not digging: Frog Eyes - The Golden River

Raindrops and Sunshowers is a great song, with a really cool kicking beat, and I love the lyrics.... showing Billy Corgan the actual human being, beyond the ego, I likes it very much... and some of this long drwan out backing notes he plays on the guitar just sound cool. Like i said before, Machina has a really busy some would say fussy sound, but I like it for the everything and the kitchen sink sonic detail it contains...

Last night I also played Accelerate by REM, another album I love because its one of my favorite bands with their energy and intensity returned to them.... and what a great music they are capable of when they have that spark.

Agitation Free - Malesch

Listened to this at work today & it took me too another place. Sadly it was only my mind that was taken somewhere else, I was still stuck there all fucking day, but that's not the albums fault.

I just downloaded this.
i'm really lovin it. Finally an egyptian band with no cliché egyptian rhythm. It even reminded me of the chaotic jams of Piper at the gates of dawn.

What? I like it :)

Skin and Bones - Foo Fighters: A really nice little live accoustic compilation of songs by a band I have loved and enjoyed for a long time...

Last night I also found myself really digging...

Music Has The Right to Children - Boards of Canada Loved the mellow, experimental, artistic feel of this album... damn solid too... not a single track even remotely feels like filler...

18 B Sides - Moby: Despite being Bside material, there is alot of strong music going on here... some of which exceeds some of the tracks that made it on to the 18 album proper....
