As for me. I forgot how damn good this album this was considering it's not the classic line up: Motorhead-Orgasmatron

Bark Psychosis-Hex and Codename: Dustsucker. Beautiful, amazing dark, ambient, post-rock type stuff. Both albums are stellar even though they were released nearly a decade apart.

^ I love leaving the reggae portion of my music library alone for weeks at a time and then getting back to it, finding it just as fresh and wonderful as ever. Particularly stuff like Delroy Washington's Rasta here. Some of the best roots reggae without a doubt. ^ Bleh is all I can say. It's a filler-album in the Oils' discography, being a handful of studio and a load of live recordings to fill out space. The aforementioned studio cuts aren't really that good and the live tracks are passable at best. Pretty forgettable stuff. ^ Definitely my favourite XTC album after they pursued that more laid-back, pensive rock style after their classic new wave beginnings, with only the fantastic singles Dear Madam Barnum and the Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead bearing any real resemblance to it. Top album all the same though. |

Really enjoying the dense, often dark but very relaxing sounds of Geogaddi by Boards of Canada.... really interesting stuff both sound and composition wise, and something completely new for me... a very good thing!
Enjoying it immensely! It' going to be a favorite methinks...

A few more albums I've been giving airtime lately...
^ Featuring David Gedge, lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the mighty Wedding Present, this being his project after they split. A few good songs, but most it's a bit average - seems to try too hard to conjure a slower, indie-pop kinda sound that doesn't really yield very good results. Basically he's much, much better at the faster stuff he did with the Wedding Present. ^ Not a bad album by any means but definitely the least interesting XTC album. Recorded as it was in 1984, it's the only album of their's I've heard that sounds at all dated. ^ I won't say much as this due a nice, long-winded review from me in the near future, so I'll just say this is the finest Burritos album. ^ One I've been meaning to get my hands on for years and only just have as of a few days ago. Absolutely loved it. It takes the promise of the preceding Take Them On On Your Own, re-wires it to a country rock motor and produces some fantastic results. Needless to say, it's fast worked its way up my albums of the decade list. |
