What medium are you listening to this from?

Obviously so ****ing good btw

Yeah that's what it was re-released as. Interestingly, that release has the track names changed to their original Eastern European translation. I don't know for sure, but I think these are takes on existing pieces.

I was lucky enough to find digital copies of their entire discography so I've got it on my ipod. If you are looking for a copy I can probably send this to you when I'm home

Chi no Hibiki - Higashi Yuroppa wo Utau by Geinoh Yamashirogumi

may already be well known but I love this group. this is their take on (mostly) polyphonic Eastern European choral singing. No other instruments required or needed.

My mum used to make a traditional Ukrainian meal for Christmas and would take us to bless the food at the Orthodox church. It was a brilliant church and this album is reasonably similar to the chorus sections they had there. I woudnt categorize myself as religious, but I'm fascinated by the music it's produced

Do you have Ukrainian roots?

The meal part was the regular thing at our house at Xmas from the Ukrainian side of the family,
but, thankfully, we didn't have the church part. I remember this album from that Japanese collective
coming out back in the 70s and liking it. I'll have to revisit it.

Yep on both sides of my family. My ancestry is like 95% Ukrainian

I could probably eat Ukrainian food the rest of my meals and be happy.

On this recent trip to British Columbia, the very first thing that I spent a Canadian dollar on
was a plate of pierogies and a bowl of borscht at Cecil's.

Love the sarangi and it's quite beautifully played here.
