Thee Oh Sees - A Weird Exits

Very late to the party, unfortunately. But I'm here, and I like the Oh Sees. I've only heard this one and their last record, so I guess I'll continue working my way down their discography.

Carrion Crawler / The Dream is their best IMO.

Shabazz Palaces - Lese Majesty

I've been taking a bit of a break from Black Up for fear of burning myself out, so I've been hitting this album up a lot. When I saw them live, I realized that there was a lot more to this album than I had given it credit for and now I'm actualizing on that theory. Since a lot of these tracks are very short, it makes the album work best when listened to as a whole (Black Up works as a whole, but each track can stand alone), and the flow of the album reminds me of how they are live. One edge that this album has on Black Up outside of the album cover is that it contains some of Shabazz Palaces' best sounds. The drums and gripping but breathy synths and vocals on Harem Aria are a great example of it.

Emptyset - Skin

Great stuff as is to be expected from Emptyset. Very tribal, with what I think is a mouth bow and electronics leading most of the music.

Vicious, dark, industrial, crimsoid stuff.

Enslaved E (2017)

As with every Enslaved album since 2003's Below the Lights, I both know what to expect and am I always surprised. E continues their descent into prog with tinges of black metal. The songs are all long, epic, and memorable, especially the last one, which features the most use of clean vocals from any of their songs. I think this is my favourite album since their 2010 opus Axioma Ethica Odini.
