The Octopus Project Memory Mirror I'm actually surprised I'm liking this as much as I am. Their last few albums had some good songs on them but this is a very solid album from start to finish. They mix Indie and Neo-Psychedelia WAY better than say, Tame Impala does. I'm drawn to this style of music but find time and time again that it's a tired and repetitive genre (Tame Impala, Sunflower Bean, Animal Collective) but this album is some fresh air. |

Damien Dubrovnik - Great Many Arrows Surprisingly comforting for a death industrial album.

Perfume Genius - No Shape (2017) I love it when an artist releases an album that makes you reevaluate them. Everything before this album was pretentious and forgettable garbage, but I'm really enjoying this one. The songs are varied and have interesting, memorable hooks. Nice production. Pleasant from top to bottom and not a bad song on it. I'm trying to do this new thing where if I like an album I listen to it 10 times on consecutive days so try and burn it in my mind, because otherwise I have a habit of never listening to it again, building up how much I liked it in my mind, then getting back to it a few years later and wondering what I saw in it. If I burn it in there right away, the magic of the first listen seems to stick around. Meat Wave - The Incessant (2017) Sounds exactly like you think a band called "Meat Wave" sounds like. Aggressive, hostile, quirky garage punk. Excellent fun. |

Khost - Governance Tied with Wreche as the best metal album I've heard this year. Dark, gloomy, surprising industrial driven metal that just hit the spot when I checked it out this morning. Anyone into experimental metal must check this out.

Anna Von Hausswolff | Ceremony The moment my tolerance goes down, I inevitably end up putting this on while peak blazed.
