Natalie Imbruglia - Left Of The Middle (1998)

It's funny. A physical version of this album was sent to me by an incredibly great friend and once I started listening to it, it sounded familiar. Little did I know I knew a few tracks off this album. It's quite good if you're into the singer songwriter genre from the late 90's. It pretty much brings everything you come to love about that particular genre, and of course it has it's own amount of cheese, in a good way. I love her voice in particular though. I've never been a humongous fan of female vocalist. No I'm not sexist, just never clicked. She however handles her voice very well. Great album. Glad this was sent to me. The one song I'm sure everybody has heard is "Torn". In its own right, it's very cheesy like I said. But still quite good.

Oranssi Pazuzu - Muukalainen puhuu

**** yes. Good as ever, but feels a little less ambitious than Värähtelijä.

Big fan of Oranssi Pazuzu. Sometimes play their stuff on my radio show.
They're pretty consistent throughout all of their albums.

Finally a debut, released today, from Nan Kolé who's done a lot to push gqom the past couple of years
(even tho it's been popular in Durban for about 5 years). It's only an EP - basically two short tunes with
2 remixes of one of them, but we can hope for more (soon?).

Nan Kolé - Malumz

I definitely have a weakness for Dawson's Creek-core. It's tepid, middle-of-the-road, "adult contemporary for teenage girls", corporate shill music, but it's so soothing and fun and catchy that I don't care. I bought Natalie's second album, White Lilies Island, at a thrift store years ago and it's even better than her debut.

I'll definitely be checking more of her stuff. It's the type of style I really like.

This release surprised me. By that I mean I had no idea it was going to be released.
