Yeah man. To me, the quintessential use for these kind of bands is a really beautiful 70-80 degree sunny day and a three hour drive through the backroads to wherever you're headed. That sound brings back drives up to the Catskills for me.

EDIT: I decided to include songs that have the same feeling for me.

They ain't anything to write home about but in the context I described they're what they need to be. Also Real Estate formed a couple towns over from me so I'm biased and shut your whore mouth.

Pictured Resort - All Vacation Long (2016)

I trolled a bit in a discussion last year saying the Boredoms had never done a City Pop record despite the genre being a keystone in the musical landscape of Japan in the 80's and early 90's. These guys seem to have turned that comment of mine into reality: this is some great beach-oriented jazzy pop stuff that'd gel well with the Boredoms or maybe even Can at their smoothest. Trying to sell MB on the greatness of guys like Tatsuro Yamashita or Toshiki Kadomatsu might be futile, but this band showcases the appeal.

Code Orange - Forever (2017)

Hardcore / metalcore done very right. They've been listening to a lot of Deftones and Alice In Chains in their downtime too, which makes this a bit of a grunge crossover too I suppose.

That was duller than ****. Boring sludge riffs, lame vocals, and a general air of boredom. If that's actually the best they got then you need this thread badly.

That song is the only song on the album with clean vocals. Rest of the album is more like something by Nails. Go figure: I like it.

I am dubious but mildly curious.
