I am really loving these albums:

1) Marianas Trench - Masterpiece Theatre

2) Faber Drive - Seven Second Surgery

3) Hedley - Famous Last Words

One of Pobodie's gifts.

Jazzy, soulful hip hop with radical political leanings. So groovy, so good.

I'm really digging 'Sound Awake' by Australian band Karnivool. It's taken them 4 years to put this album together but I think it was sort-of worth the wait. A combination of melodic progressive rock and alternative rock, with alternative metal influences. If anyone's interested you know where to find me...

How do you think it rates against Themata?

Well... I've been following Karnivool from close to the very beginning so I'll always have a soft spot for Themata... brilliant album that I was blown away and holds some fantastic memories of some of their live shows I've been too! However, I absolutely love Sound Awake - I think the sound is much more mature and you can tell they've put a lot of energy in it. Though maybe I just love it so much because I've been waiting around four years for it!

I have to say that I am very impresed with their new release. It's by far my favourite of theirs.

It's ska, it's hip Hop, it's punk, it's blastcore it's spazzy and I like it.

David Byrne's first proper solo album, and still his best by a mile. It's awesomeness is multiplied when you're listening to it through headphones like I am now - really brings out the terrific African and Latin American-styled percussion.

ELO, Out of the Blue- sometimes campy and cheezy, but catchy nonetheless with underlying complexities that keep it fresh

Carole King, Tapestry- King's soulful lyrics convey powerful emotions of longing through mainstream music that avoids being cliche- a great listen

The Lemonheads, The Best of The Lemonheads- great early 90's punk, reminiscent of The Replacements- the band's often sarcastic lyrics make this a winner

That's a really great collection. If you want to investigate them further get their 1992 album It's A Shame About Ray, it's pretty much perfection
