MC Hawking—A Brief History of Rhyme (2004) Nerdcore? Noveltycore? I don't know, but it's a pretty fun listen. Not sure how much it will really stand up to repeat listens but entertaining enough for a thumbs up after one listen. |

Swans | The Seer Listening to Kamasi Washington's epic 3 hour jazz epic The Epic has seriously reevaluated my need to immediately not scoff at records that are extremely long. So I'm starting with this 2 hour monster. And so far I'm enjoying the post-punk, apocalyptic vibe.

3 songs nearing nearly 3 hours? This is exactly what I'm looking for.

Nails—You Will Never Be One of Us (2016) I just got this a day or two ago and it is pretty fantastic. The style isn't fundamentally different from the last two, and yet at the same time it kind of is. It's a little less hardcore and there's an element of neo-thrash going on that wasn't there before. Plus, it's heavy. So motherfucking heavy. It's like being run over by a tank. In a good way. |
