This song off their three song EP The Paralaxx Hypersleep Dialogues is pretty fantastic. The slow down and the build up towards the middle is their best work in my opinion. Blake Richardson is a goddamn beast on the drums. I've seen them twice. Once opening for Mastodon and the other opening for Coheed and Cambria. Both shows kicked major ass. Also, Bats, I know what you're talking about with Thomas Giles, the singer. He does this thing with his hands as if he's trying to open up some invisible portal in the air and crawl through it. He's a fun watch. |

Great tracks, I'll definitely give the album a listen. For whatever reason I always made the blind assumption that BtBaM were just another metalcore act aimed at young teen girls. Not sure why, but I did. After the first track on Colors, I really started to believe that, but once I heard The Decade of Statues I realized just how wrong I was. The album has been on repeat ever since.

Colors is definitely my favorite BTBAM release too, though 'Selkies' off of Alaska is still arguably the best thing they've ever written and recorded.
Anyhoo... Adrian Belew - Lone Rhino (1982) Beginning my descent into the weirdness of everyone's favorite David Byrne stand-in. His collaborations with both King Crimson and David Bowie are pretty legendary at this point, but this album was an amazing debut. Just the guitar work on opening cut 'Big Electric Cat' is worth the price of admission IMO. Sanguine Hum - Now We Have Light (2015) Acoustic-oriented Coheed & Cambria diving headlong into Frank Zappa / Caravan / Camel / Gong territory. Could this be the modern Canterbury Scene I've always hoped for? Very promising band!

Fetty Wap by Fetty Wap I'm almost completely new to "trap", but boy I've been pretty addicted to the first half of this album. I usually come down during the second half (this album takes some endurance in full), but it's packed with ultra pump up tracks. Great car tunes. His voice took me some getting used to, but I think im ready to delve a bit deeper into this genre. |

New Model Army - Vengeance (1984) Wasn't too familiar with this band before but I'm enjoying the hell out of this anthemic post-punk album. Looking forward to checking out the rest of their discography. The Butchies - Are We Not Femme? (1998) Punk/indie rock band featuring the frontgirl from Team Dresch. This band is poppier and more accessible than Team Dresch and every bit as enjoyable. This is something that will appeal to Sleater-Kinney fans. Chairlift - Moth (2016) The first new release I've been anticipating this year and I'm not disappointed. This album certainly isn't consistent, then again neither was Something. But it does have some killer pop gems like 'Romeo', 'Moth to the Flame' and 'Show U Off'.

Lifeboat by Robert Johnston Some dude I met through my girlfriend. Found out he has a bandcamp. Checked out his album and absolutely loved it. It's got some great poppy rock tracks but also some elements of trip hop and post rock, it's really excellent throughout and I was honestly blown away. Definitely recommended to people of nearly any music taste https://robertcjohnston.bandcamp.com/album/lifeboat
