However a 5 minute chunk of Art Angels is going to be quite a bit different from any other 5 minute chunk you pick because imo it has a ton of variety in sounds, song structures, and melodies. So the idea I presented about judging the whole album based on a short sample applies to some albums but not others.
If you haven't listened to the whole album, you have no idea what it encompasses and therefore and banned from speaking on it. I say this semi-seriously with regards to MMM because the album has much more variety than you seem to give it credit for. And since it's from a five minute listen, I'm honestly not that surprised.

I was just disappointed thoroughly so I didn't get through it. Maybe I'll give it another go but all the way through I was thinking, "I could be listening to Visions here, or a better pop album".

Well on this we just fundamentally disagree, I've skimmed through in 1-2 minute bursts and I don't hear much difference at all between minute 5 and minute 50.

I haven't listened to it enough times to say how much actual variety it has, but it definitely never uses the same idea twice.

I thought the beginning of To the Lighthouse was boring. I read the first five pages then skipped to the last five pages and noticed they were both written in English. Yup, the whole book is boring, then.
