Well I can say one thing for sure about the Newsom album...I ****ing love that album cover
|
I'm not really impressed with Divers after my first listen, but I didn't really like the single after my first listen either.
I think topping Ys will be hard (ever). |
It's not available on Spotify so I'm SOL on hearing it.

I'm really in love with the Dire Straits-Dire Straits (1978) studio album at the moment. An all time favourite.

Frog - Kind of Blah VERY interesting album. Has this sort of Animal Collective spastic sound but can also get very quiet and folky almost like a Mount Eerie song. Definitely a cool find. Below is a good example of both styles on this album... ^This song kind of reminds me of Steppenwolf's "Goodbye Stranger". Anybody else? |

Beach House - Thank Your Lucky Starts This is leagues better than Depression Cherry. I'm sure it's the lack of reverb that dragged them down with their last one, but here the productions much cleaner and I think it ranks with Bloom and Teen Dream, records they actually used their reverb for good. |

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006) For me at least, these guys are one of those special groups that have a completely distinct sound (though not all of these are necessarily great bands). You just can't hear an Arctic Monkeys song and mistake them for one of their peers. When the first song on your album is 'The View From The Afternoon', you're doing something right. |
