Nap Eyes - Whine of the Mystic (2014) Real cool Velvet Underground-influenced Indie Rock from Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Jangle Pop sound of The Feelies and such bands can also be detected, so overall not unlike another recent favorite, Ultimate Painting, but with a bit more energy.

Doomsday Student - A Walk Through Hysteria Park (2014) Really awesome no wave type stuff. The guitars remind me a lot of Drive Like Jehu, which is a very good thing. Not a massive fan of the singer, but he gets the job done. This just hits me in all the right spots.

Van Hunt (2004) Van Hunt's eponymous debut album is incredible, gotta an old school vibe going on that ranges from Prince to Marvin Gaye. The real classic on it's the track Dust, but everything else is really great too. Seconds of Pleasure, Down Here in Hell With You, Anything to Get Your Attention are killer. If you like Neo Soul Van Hunt is one of the best. Last edited by ElvisMan; 07-30-2015 at 10:22 AM. |

I never got into Tom Waits til recently but he's incredible. He's got six albums I think are true classics.
1. "Bone Machine" - Tom Waits tough as nails style was never as badass on anything as it is on this album. Goin' out West is arguably his best song, so if you want to start getting into Tom Waits listening to Goin' out West is the best introduction you can get. I first heard it in the movie Fight Club and the marriage between Tom Waits and David Fincher was so amazing I'm sad they never collaborated on anything. 2. "The Black Rider" - Probably his weirdest album. Amazing sound though, wild, dark, and dreamy and his lyrics are pure poetry. My favorite song is the title track, The Black Rider. 3. "Big Time" - Powerful live album. But the best track is actually his studio recording Falling Down, deeply moving song. 4. "Frank's Wild Years" - This album has lots of really good songs and a few really great songs, Cold Cold Ground being my personal favorite cut off the album. 5. "Mule Variations" - Very emotional album. The grammy nominated song Hold On is incredible. 6. "Rain Dogs" - Beautiful album. Kind of has a Bruce Springsteen vibe going on. The song Downtown Train is a masterpiece by every definition of the word. Last edited by ElvisMan; 08-04-2015 at 10:49 PM. |

Hidetake Takayama - Grace of Japan Incredible album cover, incredible album. Very relaxing orchestral type stuff with occasional Nujabes-like beats, it is truly gorgeous from start to finish. I could see myself binging the **** out of this album over the next couple weeks. Absolutely love it.
