It's no secret that I'm a huge Killing Joke fan, but I've always preferred their heavier stuff to their more post-punk/gothic rock material from the mid-to-late '80s. I'm beginning to realize that maybe that was an oversight on my behalf because I am really digging the sound on this album. I've always loved "Love Like Blood" but the mood of that song really shines through the entire album.

All that said though Brighter Than a Thousand Suns (1986) and Outside the Gate (1988) are still wank.

I just heard "Without You" on Radio 2, and I'm about to get this. He's got a real Harry Nilsson vibe.

White Suns - Totem

I named this my favourite of 2014 last year and it holds up to that status.
It's good to see you dig those guys. That album is amazing.

An album I encountered in a post made by Goofle. The music is neither complex nor difficult on the ear, but succeeds in being interesting nevertheless. The music itself is strongly influenced by the Asian culture and does get cheesy at times -not unexpected-, but never does seem to lose its integrity. A recommendation for anyone who likes catchy songs that are also worthwhile and a tad edgy.

Who knew a group of white Australians could make such raw, heavy 1960's funk
