Definitely. Here Be Dragons is an absolutely top drawer album. Shadows of the Sun by Ulver's another one to keep an ear peeled for as well, although it's a bit more vocal-heavy. If you find yourself looking for something that's still got that dark atmosphere but leans a lot closer to nu jazz, Electronique Noire by Eivind Aarset's probably worth a pop too. |

I Hear Sirens - Beyond The Sea, Beneath The Sky I brought this album up in my journal, but I wanted to post it here as well. I'm very fond of this album in the way that it really helped bring my love of post-rock to a new level. This album is absolutely fantastic. |

Mark Stewart & the Mafia - Learning To Cope With Cowardice A dub reggae album by the lead vocalist of the Pop Group, and this is an LP that's just as off-the-wall as you'd expect given a description like that. Takes the jagged, choppy guitars, the dark, intense lyrics and unmistakeably vocal stylings of the latter and mixes them with some gorgeous dub rhythms and studio effects. And most important of all, it's awesome stuff. It's been a while since I last dipped into the murkier depths of the parts of my music collection I've filed under 'dub', and it's been totally worth it if it means digging up stuff like this. Cheers man, it's good to be back Good to see that you're still around as well - this place wouldn't be the same without you |
