Stench of exist --- Boduf Songs

If you like minimalist music, just a guy, his guitar and a computer, and a singer who more mutters the songs than sings them but still manages to put a hell of a lot of passion into his music, this could be for you. It's really impressing me, which I know is usually a barometer of what not to listen to, but take a chance: I think this could be really one of the albums of 2015. ots of strange experimental stuff too -- Frownland, you may very well like this.

The funny thing is that this is probably his worst album so far. It is good for sure though. Check out his self-titled debut.

Bohren & der Club of Gore - Black Earth

Just... wow. This is perfect for me. A lot of my favorite elements of music coming together into some super genre that I somehow missed out on. So much love for this right here. I feel like I've stumbled upon some treasure.

At last, someone else who knows this album exists :D I love this album as well; it's been on near-constant rotation with me for years.

If you like this, BE SURE to check out their other albums. Also, the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is another band in a similar vein. Please, listen as soon as possible.

Definitely. Here Be Dragons is an absolutely top drawer album. Shadows of the Sun by Ulver's another one to keep an ear peeled for as well, although it's a bit more vocal-heavy. If you find yourself looking for something that's still got that dark atmosphere but leans a lot closer to nu jazz, Electronique Noire by Eivind Aarset's probably worth a pop too.

Well I'm glad I could help you to see I sometimes listen to something that is not actually rooted out from a dustbin! ;) Seriously, I know I listen to mainstream but sure, everyone has their own taste. I'm not about to start listening to stuff just because people think I should, but it's nice when I come across something that actually interests people and that I really like. I kind of see a small crossover with Olafur Arnalds here, though it's a little tenuous. Still, great album. Watch for it in "Bitesize" over the next few days.

I checked them out last night and also dug further into Bohren & der Club of Gore. Great stuff. Thanks for the recs.

I thought Ulver was a metal band, but funnily enough I planned on checking them out this exact day. I'll check out Eivind Aarset as well. Thanks for the recs.

I Hear Sirens - Beyond The Sea, Beneath The Sky

I brought this album up in my journal, but I wanted to post it here as well. I'm very fond of this album in the way that it really helped bring my love of post-rock to a new level. This album is absolutely fantastic.

Baths - Obsidian

I'm liking this a lot. Voice kind of reminds me of Sufjan Stevens.

Woah there guys, give the other atmospheric blackened death/doom bands a chance, they would just give up after hearing this

Mark Stewart & the Mafia - Learning To Cope With Cowardice
A dub reggae album by the lead vocalist of the Pop Group, and this is an LP that's just as off-the-wall as you'd expect given a description like that. Takes the jagged, choppy guitars, the dark, intense lyrics and unmistakeably vocal stylings of the latter and mixes them with some gorgeous dub rhythms and studio effects.

And most important of all, it's awesome stuff. It's been a while since I last dipped into the murkier depths of the parts of my music collection I've filed under 'dub', and it's been totally worth it if it means digging up stuff like this.
