Also their b-sides are worth checking out, there's some really atmospheric and trippy stuff there. |

Alright my musical tastes have be reborn in the past 6 months or so since I discovered Neil Young, Im not saying that Ragged Glory is his best album as he has many many great albums (I have nearly them all), but this is the album I keep coming back to. The first two tracks 'Country Home' & 'White Line' both originate from the 70s but you couldnt imagine them being played any better than on this record. This album is hard to define, its like a mixture of Country Rock & Grunge music at the time, also there are quite a few songs that start on solos and end on solos, also some go on for like 10 mins with 3 minute extended jams at the end of them. My personal favourite tracks would be: 'Country Home', 'Over & Over', 'Love To Burn', 'Mansion On The Hill', 'Love & Only Love'. It is really just such a great album- if you havent heard it then check it out- you will be hooked!.

Alright, yes I know another Neil Young album but I just couldnt choose between this one and Ragged Glory.
This is a collabaration between Neil Young & Pearl Jam. What i love about this album is the raw loose rock sound and I think a lot of it was made up on the spot. For instance I have never heard a song yet such as 'Im The Ocean' which is on for over 7 minutes plays the same 4 chords 60-odd times with no bridge & no chorus although I have listened to the song over 100 times and have never grown tired of it yet. It really showcases Neil Young's lyrical ability and I dont think many artists would be able to do that. Anyway best tracks are 'Song X', 'Act Of Love', 'Im The Ocean', 'Big Green Country', 'Downtown', 'Throw Your Hatred Down'. Brilliant, and again if youve never heard as I discovered a lot of people havent, check it out! |

The House That Wolf Built by Little Axe... Stunning little Dub-Blues album by a master modern blues artist. Not his best album, but it gave me faith in modern blues :p: Also has some pretty cool Howlin' Wolf samples here and there. |

Alrite, I never really used to like Alice In Chains that much before (was more into Pearl Jam/Soundgarden etc), but after I got a lend of their 'MTV Unplugged' DVD I have really come to appreciate their music and their lyrics are excellent. Before I only had the 'Dirt' album and wasnt really that keen but after watching the DVD I think it shows a totally different side to their music and the songs as it is all acoustic version, I have since bought all their albums (including their two Eps 'Jar Of Flies' (of which I think personally is the best collection of songs they ever wrote), & 'Sap'.
Also I think their best song is either 'Nutshell' or 'No Excuses'. Anyone who says 'Would' (although I wouldnt say it was a bad song) is their best is a 'hits surfer'. |
Right now I am majorly digging a really cool underrated Australian release named Children of Telepathic Experiences by (now on hiatus) Gerling... darn good album though, made on a shoe string budget but it works so darn well...

I've been listening to this through heavy rotation. I enjoy every song off of here to Planet Telex all the way through to Street Spirit (fade out). |
Propagandhi's Supporting Caste has really been kicking ass.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg Plaid's Heaven's Door soundtrack. Hopefully it will see a US release soon. And I hope their next LP is as good. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GSTkcFN7zd...s320/plais.jpg Irepress - Samus Octology http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg And Black Taj's Beyonder, featuring a member or two from Polvo but for a more classic rock kind of sound. Great album. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg |

One of my favourite EBM albums is getting a blast right now. http://wtjujazz.files.wordpress.com/...xe-edition.jpg I have resisted Jazz for a long time but the past year I have been digging it more and more and this is genuinely a great album. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_45eY3CZ3SU...3a9b6c073t.jpg A re-imagining of Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon? review coming later. |
