White Fence - For the Recently Found Innocent (2014) I know I've posted this in other threads already this week, but damn, I'm really, really enjoying this album. The other stuff I've heard from White Fence didn't do much for me, but this is quite incredible. I haven't been more sure of an Album of the Week in some time. I've played it 4 times since Tuesday and that's a lot for me. Perfect mix of garage, psychedelic pop, great melodies, great vocals, and great album length make for something I want to play over and over.

Manfred Schoof - European Echoes This is the most violent and in your face jazz I've ever heard. I think, I think, I think...I might like this better than Peter Brotzmann's Machine Gun. If not better it's certainly a great sister album to it. Released in the same year, plus it has six members of the Brotzmann Octet on there. Here's the massive personnel: bass - Arjun Gorter, Buschi Niebergall, Peter Kovald; drums - Han Bennink, Pierre Favre; guitar - Derek Bailey; piano - Alexander Von Schlippenbach, Fred van Hove, Irene Schweitzer; sax - Evan Parker, Gerd Dudek; trombone - Paul Rutherford; trumpet - Enrico Rava, Hugh Steinmetz, Manfred Schoof. As you can imagine, a 16 piece free jazz troupe can be a bit chaotic. This brand of chaos is really something though. It's made up of two fifteen minute pieces and it'll melt your tits off. Take a listen.

VNV Nation - Empires (1999) I've only been vaguely familiar with them before listening to this but I really love this. A soaring and powerful EBM album with vocals that have a slight tingle of sadness to them. Clock DVA - Buried Dreams (1989) Some dark and hypnotic electro-industrial with sinister-sounding vocals and great use of samples. Wouldn't sound out of place on your Halloween playlist.

Run the Jewels - RTJ2 Yup, this is pretty great. RTJ's best yet but not up to the level of RAP Music or Cancer 4 Cure, we'll have to see what the future holds. Best track is the closer, Angel Duster. Top beats and rhymes, no surprise here.

Creepoid - Creepoid I think Steph posted this a while back. It's pretty f*cking amazing. It's like Nirvana, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine had a love child. Flying Lotus - You're Dead The man is a goddamn genius. |

I was revisiting Rushup Edge last week and man that shit was impressive. Almost wish Syro was as impressive (after a 14-year "hiatus") as The Tuss EPs were when they came out.

Was jamming White Zombie's La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1 all Sunday. It's simple but god damn is it some bangin' **** when you're in the mood. Psychoholic Slag, Thunder Kiss '65, Black Sunshine, Warp Asylum, Soul-Crusher, such a good time. I've always had a soft spot for Rob Zombie's projects, in both film and music. I need to get my hands on Astro-Creep 2000.
