Listened to Neil Finn's Try Whistling This album the other day in the car... it struck me what an underrated masterpiece this disci s... lots of great, well thought out andd often very inspirational lyrics paired with gorgeous melodies, paired with deep lusteous production and diverse sounds. Great album.

Well, as I've been on a Gentle Giant splurge over the last two days, I'll just pick an album from their discography that I own to "digg".
Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant (1970) What do we have here? A debut that certainly speaks volumes of diversity, talent and a general taste for weirdness, though even by prog. standards this is pretty strange stuff. "Nothing At All" is my favorite track, followed closely by "Alucard" whose sax/drum and tuba combo is a wonder to behear, and the multi-part vocal harmonies in general are wonderful. However, there really are too many great things about this record to pick just one highlight, so I won't bother. An underrated classic IMO.

Nadja - When I See The Sun Always Shines On TV
awesome album of fuzzed-out covers of songs that have influenced Nadja. Highlights include their cover of 'Only Shallow' by My Bloody Valentine, 'Pea' by Codeine, 'No Cure for the Lonely' by Swans and 'Dead Skin Mask' by Slayer. Tripppppppppy! also enjoying listening to lots of drone/ambient/post-rock in general. Labradford, Emeralds, Godspeed, Windy & Carl, Stars of the Lid, Dead Texan, Tim Hecker, William Basinski, Pan American, etc... stuff of that ilk. and Pavement. |

Liquor in the Front is sweetness, as well as It's Martini Time. Space Heater's sound is a little different, but some kickass solos
