Digging into my vinyl and digging one of my favorite bands from the 80's...
23 Skidoo - Urban Gamelan (1984) This was the album that got me into this band, and the first track "F.U.G.I." with samples from Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" was the song that got me hooked. Last edited by Psy-Fi; 12-17-2013 at 07:38 AM. Reason: Fixed a typo. |

Mostly an instrumental album featuring bass, guitar, horns, drums & percussion, with some vocal samples added to some of the tunes. The album starts out with an instrumental funk groove (F.U.G.I.) and then goes into dub before getting progressively drum & percussion oriented with bass, guitar, horns and vocal samples giving way to tribal style drum patterns giving way to gamelan style patterns until only the percussion instruments remain.

Yndi Halda - Enjoy Eternal Bliss (2006) A beautiful and uplifting mix of post-rock and modern classical. It's a shame this is the only album the band released. This is just what I need for the winter months. Morbid Angel - Blessed are the Sick (1991) Doesn't quite have the intensity of Altars of Madness but there's more variety on offer here, which is something I dig. Also, that's a seriously cool album cover.
