Here's a list of stuff I've been digging recently.
The National - Trouble Will Find Me Indie (2013) Beautifully hopeless and seamlessly crafted. Their most intimate and in my opinion greatest album to date. ![]() The Blood Brothers - Young Machetes Post-Hardcore (2006) Always been a fan of their raw power and unbalanced energy, listening to this album quite a bit in the last few weeks and it's just awesome. Ulver - Peredition City Post-Metal (2000) Slick, refined album that makes me picture an urban city by nightfall, under the street lights and with the light drizzle of rainfall, a hooded figure stalks the back alleys. Just has that kind of atmosphere about it. Great record. J.Cole - Truly Yours 2 (EP) Hip-hop (2013) One of my favourite rappers of the modern era, the always likeable J.Cole drops a completely solid EP which he says isn't, but hopefully is a precursor to how his new album's going to sound. Consistently good as ever. |

Why? Cause it's less catchier than their debut? I actually love it more for that. Their debut was TOO catchy. Really got annoying after awhile.

![]() ![]() Peter Hammill - Nadir's Big Chance Solo album by the frontman of Van Der Graff Generator. I've heard a lot of progheads call this a proto-punk album, and although I can sort of see where they're coming from (especially the title track which opens the album) to me it sounds a lot closer to Roxy Music with a bit of King Crimson & Aladdin Sane era Bowie thrown in. Good album though.

![]() ![]() Skogen Brinner - 1st New album from Swedish band and the vocals are all in Swedish. The music has this proto-metal/garage thang going on. Yeah it often sounds like it could have come from 1971 but I love it nonetheless. Favorite track at this time: "Australien". |
