I don't care what anyone says Kid A always has, always will absolutely rule...

Glad to hear it. It's a hell of a ****ing record, I definitely agree with scottsy. It's my favorite record by them, and easily one of my favorite records ever. Just brilliant.
Lately, I've really been digging this.... Elephants - Rachael Yamagata ![]() There are two discs, but only the first really appeals to me. It's honestly the best record I've heard in a while. I love the sound and overall atmosphere of her music; it's incredibly lush and beautiful at times, while still having lots of subdued and really intimate moods throughout. |

![]() ![]() A fascinating mish-mash of electronic styles; dub, trip-hop, big beat, IDM, hip-hop - they're all there to some extent or another. An excellently excellent album. ![]() I loved the movie, and this soundtrack is damn cool as well. Has a bunch of great songs on it that I've heard down the years, so it's nice to have them in one place now that I've got this. ![]() To me, it sounds like a longer, rougher-edged Endtroducing (in the way I've heard it was made at least), ending up with 32 tracks of avante-garde hip-hop/electronica. Great album from an area of music I don't know a lot about, it's just a shame the tracks are so short - while the more mediocre moments kind of fly by, the same can be said of the highlights not sticking around for long enough either. ![]() A very modern-sounding lover's rock/dancehall album this. I liked it - there are one or two weaker moments, but some excellent songs to make up for it. |

Leftfield-oh why did they never release anything else? The band had such potential and they gave Roots Manuva his big break too.

It's a shame eh. Rhythm and Stealth there is fast becoming one of my all-time favourites, and you're definitely right that they had so much potential. In a way though it's kinda good they quit while they were ahead of the pack - fortunately they weren't around long enough to tarnish their rep like Massive Attack did (for example).

Four Tet - 'Pause'
This was recommended to me maybe 3 or 4 years ago and I never got round to it. I was wondering aimlessly around Last.FM and came across it. Decided to give it a go. Very fun and catchy progressive instrumental pieces. Perfect for a sunny day on public transit. Thom Yorke - 'The Eraser' Kind of like stripped down Radiohead (and i've heard it refered to as 'Kid B'). This has some really personal lyrics on it and that's what I like about Thom. Currently listening to this more than any of my Radiohead mainstays. The Strokes - 'Is This It?' The singles are pretty much the soundtrack to my rowdy pub going, underage drinking, sneaking a cigarette days. Very nostalgic and just makes me want to party. The US equivilant of Arctic Monkey's first LP. |
