It's All Around You by Tortoise

been on a Tortoise kick lately and while their s/t or TNT are closer to my personal favorite, this one is too often slept on. even tho the album art looks like a 70s-era prog band entering their forgotten twilight years, it's certainly not. "The Lithium Stiffs" might be one of my favorite tracks of theirs period.

George Russell Presents The Esoteric Circle

Album is f*cking whacko. Avant garde post bop lunacy. Big players include Terje Rypdal on guitar and Jan Garbarek on tenor and also wrote the damn thing. Russell produced it. Totally forgotten piece of crazy.

Veronica Falls - Selftitled

If You're looking for consistency, look no further. This record start to finish is fantastic. Driving indie rock, incredible vocals, and a catchiness that seems unrivaled.

Talamasca - We Gonna Rock The World

If you're not aware already, Talamasca is a pretty interesting and dynamic psytrance artist. I've been listening to him a lot this year, and so far I've not been disappointed with what I've heard. He's released a **** ton of stuff. We Gonna Rock The World is an album that was actually released this year, and I wasn't even aware that he was going to be releasing an album. Man, it's great. Take psytrance and add in some sick as **** guitar solos and you've got this album. It's a really neat mix of heavy metal, guitar solos, and psytrance. And yes, the psytrance is really good. Talamasca is fantastic at what he does. And big props to Ivan Castro as well.

Possibly the best song on the album, imo:

Kool & Kass - Peaceful Solutions

Probably Kool A.D.'s best work. Dig the jazzy and abstract production. Lot of funny bars. Good **** that I keep returning to, check it out.
