Who played at the last show you went to?

Another thread which won't get lost in time: Which bands played at the last show you went to? Were they any good live?

venitronics 12-06-2007 11:27 AM

I saw Fall Out Boy at the Hardrock Hotel/Casino here in Vegas just 4 days ago, they were pretty good!

mr. goth glam 12-06-2007 09:43 PM

Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello.

Oh, and Amos Lee.

But I honestly didn't care for him.

sleepy jack 12-06-2007 10:08 PM

Iron and Wine/Arthur and Yu.

Brock_West 12-06-2007 10:51 PM

Chicago/Earth Wind & Fire

they were really good

British_pharaoh 12-10-2007 03:34 PM

Rilo Kiley, Orenda Fink and Grand Ole Party

RK and GOP were great a real fun, upbeat, party atmosphere

Jenny Lewis forgetting the opening line to give a little love added comedy to the whole equation

that was about 2 weeks ago

Brock_West 12-12-2007 04:50 PM

Bull 11 12-12-2007 05:31 PM

jackhammer 12-12-2007 05:59 PM

The band I specifically went to see played at the last show. Maybe u need to rename this thread?

Frewen 12-13-2007 02:52 AM

Stars of the Lid

They were accompanied by a nice string trio which matched the music nicely. The venue was a tad small though...

Crappy ass death metal band composed of people from my school. Then again I think all death metal is pretty crappy.

FireInCairo 11-08-2008 09:37 PM

Where were the John Steele Singers on at? I like what I have heard so far.

They are playing at the Up Late Series at Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane February 13th along with the Gin Club who's album Junk is very good. The Laughing Clowns are playing there as well on January 23rd and I will be definitely seeing that.

FireInCairo 11-08-2008 10:58 PM

yeah it was the first time id heard them
they were on at the peninsula lounge in moorooduc victoria

Astronomer 11-09-2008 04:11 PM

The last gig I went to was an open mic night with bands Inside Out, PsyEcho, and Pins. They were all pretty bad but it was a fun night :D

halzberry 11-09-2008 06:45 PM

Mine was Jay Reatard at CMJ

My ears are still humming

I was supposed to see him a few weeks ago, but I couldnt get a ride home. It was weak.

Last show I went to was of Montreal with Gang Gang Dance, and tonight Im seeing Vivian Girls, Times New Viking, and Deerhunter.

Veronica Lodge 11-10-2008 09:30 AM

DEERHUNTER! Jealous.

I saw Feist last week.
It was glorious.

I'm going to see Wilco and Neil Young in a couple of weeks, and I might pee my pants.

jackhammer 11-10-2008 09:39 AM

Killing Joke last month. Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine in 2 weeks.

Bulldog 11-10-2008 09:42 AM

Last gig I saw was my mate's band a couple of months back. In terms of signed bands it was the Metros in March I think (much better live than they are in the studio)

I thought they were awful. Youth looked completely disinterested and their set list was the singles, so not the best gig ever :(

SkyLucy 11-10-2008 12:54 PM

Local bands Altercor, Leroy, More than Snake,Malorium, and Killing Chloe. They all have myspaces, etc...you should check them out if you're into metal-ish sound. Leroy has a song called 'Waltz to the End of Actuality' that has a very Tim Burton-esque feel to it.

CrackledNitro 11-10-2008 01:14 PM

Last show for me was the annual Bridge School Benefit concert hosted by Neil Young. Every band played acoustic and all were great, though Mr. Young stole the show with his commanding cover of A Day In The Life. Here was the line up...

* Neil Young
* Cat Power
* Death Cab for Cutie
* Wilco
* Smashing Pumpkins
* Josh Groban
* Norah Jones
* Jack Johnson
* Neil Young

Was inside out just awful pop punk? I think they opened for the Who when I went to a concert, they were just terrible.

Tyler Durden 11-10-2008 02:11 PM

Radiohead

I'm looking forward to Coldplay tomorrow night though.

Alfred 11-10-2008 02:14 PM

Bob Dylan tomorrow night.

dac 11-10-2008 02:46 PM

Battle of the bands kind of thing for Cleveland-Toledo area bands... the only notable one was this hardcore band named Affiance, they put on a good show.

I think 2/3 bands I mentioned were awful pop punk - so quite possibly! The other one was tryhard prog instrumental stuff that just... failed.

FireInCairo 11-11-2008 03:49 AM

Drinking makes almost all music passable. :beer:

Brad Stengel 11-11-2008 09:54 AM

My ears are still ringing from Deerhunter, and I stole a poster. They were heavy on stuff from Cryptograms, I was suprised.

Vivian Girls were awesome live, I liked them better than Times New Viking last night.
