Are you going to start a new thread every time some pop singer covers some classic rock dirge?

Well, if an artist wants to try out new styles, and see if it's a "fit," for them and their fans, i have no problem with that. Seems like it would at least give them some experience in another genre that they might take back to their's, and perhaps incorporate.
Whether or not i like the output, i gotta admire the willingness to try. But, yes. Some of them are ludicrous, imho. |

Well, this isn't necessarily the worst one I could think of, but it's an example of why some songs never should be covered; |

I seriously disagree with this post.
Now, for some crimes on music: Fall Out Boy's cover of Beat It by Michael Jackson Mindless Self Indulgence's cover of Tom Sawyer by Rush (which I find sad, because I like MSI)

One of the single most disturbing posts I have ever read on here.
Quote:
How one of the worlds worst ever bands screwed up one of my all time fave metal tracks: If they had done something original with it then I would applaud them. Speeding it up a little and getting Dani Filth to apply his awful vocals does not make a good cover version.

Forgive me for my hypocrisy. I've decided I like the Tom Sawyer cover, after a few more listens. I know that hardcore Rush fans have hated the MSI version though, so just as well I put it up here.
