As some other posters already said, just go to Pandora or something and listen for yourself. Look up Radiohead's influences and go from there. Read some reviews on albums you find interesting. It's hard to really "get into" music for the first time, but it's easier to get into new music when you've established a base.

Also, your tastes will change as you go along and find new stuff, what you're into right now won't necessarily be what you're into in say, 5 years. However, don't like a band just because many people like them. If you don't dig em, move on.

Start out with the older stuff, the newer stuff is okay compared to the older music.
Examples/ Jimi Hendrix The Doors The Eagles The Beatles Led Zeppelin Michael Jackson Frank Sinatra Elvis Presley Minor Threat Bruce Springsteen Eric Clapton U2 Guns 'N' Roses ACDC Ozzy Osbourne Cream The Police Then get into genres, like don't just gear towards what's most popular, start out with like dance and jazz and pop and disco, then if you like it, try other genres, then look at the site and the posts/topics here and try some of the bands/artists/groups they mention. |
