55. Explosions in the Sky "Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever "
![]() This album is my favorite Explosions in the Sky album. I think its their most powerful with its marching drums, it always brings up images of war for me. I had been reading Stalingrad when I first heard this album, the album seemed like the perfect soundtrack and the two always go hand in hand with me now. Favorite Song: Yasmin the Light MySpace.com - were - 45 - Female - - www.myspace.com/explosionsintheskyband 54. The Elected "Me First" ![]() The Elected's 2004 debut, was essentially a solo effort brought to you by Rilo Kiley guitarist Blake Sennett. The Elected, on this release as least is full of a combination of electronic and country influenced indie songs. Blake Sennett has been doing less and less writing for Rilo Kiley over the years, while on their debut he wrote several songs by himself the last three releases hes only contributing a few, So Long, Ripchord, and Dreamworld. Blake Sennett is often overlooked in Rilo Kiley, creating Elliott Smith influenced slightly dreamy indie sounding songs similar to Earlimart. He's managed to create some of Rilo Kileys best and overlooked songs. Me First is a memorable and consistent release, full of electronics, country influenced indie songs and a few guest appearances. It's not the most unique release on the planet, quiet the opposite but it proves to be an enjoyable release thats hard to hate. Lyrically nostalgic, musically listenable, Blake Sennett crafts a release thats thats like the soundtrack to a break up with a hug. Favorite Song: Greetings in Braille MySpace.com - The Elected - Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA - Indie / Rock / Alternative - www.myspace.com/theelected 53. Bright Red Paper "Bright Red Paper" ![]() Portland post-rock band similar to stuff like As the Poets Affirm and Bell Orchestre, their debut is amazing. The strings and compositions giving it a classical feel to it, while the guitars still giving enough modern feel to remain interesting and the combination of the two is quite the opposite of hazardous. Favorite Song: D Is For Dead Sea MySpace.com - Bright Red Paper - PORTLAND, OREGON - Indie / Classical / Alternative - www.myspace.com/brightredpaper 52. Voxtrot "Raised By Wolves EP" ![]() I was hooked when I first heard this band, they had a perfect pop sound, clever lyrics and nice vocals that had this boyish charm to them. This is my favorite EP by them, and sadly their debut didn't exactly live up to the legacy their EPs had laid out, but I think we can blame their nerves for that one I believe Voxtrot have it in them to produce a great pop album. Favorite Song: The Start of Something MySpace.com - Voxtrot - AUSTIN, TEXAS - Pop / Indie / Rock - www.myspace.com/voxtrot |

51. Madeline "Kissing and Dancing"
![]() Catie got me into this, catie also got me into Paul Baribeau I forgot to give her props for that but i'll give her props for both now. Anyway I don't really know who to compare Madeline too because most female folk artists suck but she doesn't. I guess shes like a more raw and stripped down Jenny Lewis. Favorite Song: Nobody MySpace.com - Madeline Adams - Athens, Georgia - Folk / Indie - www.myspace.com/ileftthelighton WERE AT 50 =OOO |

50. Desaparecidos "Read Music/Speak Spanish"
![]() Omaha saddle creek super group Desaparecidos one and most likely only album Read Music/Speak Spanish is indie-rock with influences from Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. The albums lyrics are essentially about the ever so popular and evil THE MAN. Favorite Song: Man and Wife, The Latter (Damaged Goods) MySpace.com - Desaparecidos - Omaha, NEBRASKA - Indie / Rock - www.myspace.com/desaparecidos 49. American Football "LP" ![]() Mike Kinsella (now in Owen, mainly)'s band American Football plays soft indie-rock similar to i'd probably say some Built To Spill. My reviews are awful tonight in case you're wondering, but this album essentially epitomizes my love life and high school experience and stuff with lyrics about broken hearts and more broken hearts. Favorite Song: Never Meant MySpace.com - American Football - West - Lounge - www.myspace.com/amfootball 48. Page France "Hello, Dear Wind" ![]() Indie (i'm saying that too much tonight) folk/pop band Page France create nonsensical upbeat songs similar to the Boy Least Likely To. Such topics include getting drunk with jesus and little animals and other crazy stuff like that. I love religion. Favorite Song: Junkyard MySpace.com - page france - Marching Band, Maryland - Indie / Folk / Pop - www.myspace.com/pagefrance 47. Dinosaur Jr. "You're Living All Over Me" ![]() This album is 80s guitar rock at its best they melt face live. I really can't think of anything to say about anything tonight i'm in this weird melancholic mood which i've been in lately which results in uncreative reviews. Sorry, I suggest everyone listen to this album though. Favorite Song: Little Fury Things MySpace.com - Dinosaur Jr. - Amherst, Massachusetts - Rock / Alternative - www.myspace.com/dinosaurjr |

46. Buzzcocks "Singles Going Steady"
![]() 70s punk band Buzzcocks are one of the few punk bands that have stood the test of time with me. Maybe its their catchiness, maybe its their dirty words but something about them is addicting. Favorite Song: Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)? MySpace.com - BUZZCOCKS - London / ex-Manchester, UK - Punk / Pop - www.myspace.com/buzzcocksofficial 45. Sparrows, Swarm And Sing! "O'Shenandoah, Mighty Death Will Find Me" ![]() This band has post-rock down, with influences ranging from Explosions in the Sky all the way to A Silver Mt. Zion. This album is a beautiful and extensive trip but there songs being of Godspeed length isn't a bad thing seeing as when you get lost in their waves of sound you can't help but want to stay under water for a long time. Favorite Song: Across Canyons/Canons MySpace.com - Sparrows Swarm And Sing - NYC / CT /, New York - Indie / Experimental / Ambient - www.myspace.com/swarmandsing 44. Van Morrison "Veedon Fleece" ![]() I have never heard Astral Weeks or anything but I love Veedon Fleece to death. There are very few vocalists who upon hearing them sing I was completely blown away the only ones I can think of are Patrick Wolf, Antony and of course Van. He has more soul in his left testicle than anyone ever. Favorite Song: Fair Play MySpace.com - Van Morrison - Folk Rock / Pop / Rock - www.myspace.com/vanmorrison 43. Grandaddy "The Sophtware Slump" ![]() Grandaddys second studio album, its obviously Radiohead influenced and one of my favorite atmospheric pop albums. Though theres one thing I will never understand about this album, is all the OK Computer comparisons. They both hold some futuristic sounding sounds, though Radiohead more so then this. Yes both albums have lyrics on the similar subjects, but two completely different approaches. While OK Computer is more apathetic, The Sophtware Slump is more like a hug. Favorite Song: Underneath the Weeping Willow MySpace.com - Grandaddy - Modesto, US - Indie - www.myspace.com/grandaddy |
