Haha, have you checked out their lead singers solo stuff hes started putting out? Its nice folk stuff similar to Billy Bragg except much more likable. Whether or not you agree with the politics of it could be a problem but he writes alot of non-political stuff. Here's a song everyone generally seems to like: Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

![]() Actually that was really good. I was going to check him out a while back when you mentioned him but never got around to it. I thought it was quite similar to Half Man Half Biscuit. They're legendary in the UK but outside that they're not that well known I think you'd really like them. I'll see if I can find you anything.

63. Ef "Give Me Beauty Or Give Me Death"
![]() One of my favorite post-rock albums ever. They have some slight shoegaze influences, but don't let you think that makes them similar to Sigur Ros. They're not as twinkly, and in alot of cases are way less subtle, their climaxes and builds are usually quicker and more energetic and the male/female vocal combinations are more rough and less dreamy sounding. Favorite Song: Hello Scotland MySpace.com - Ef - gothenburg, SE - Alternative / Experimental / Indie - www.myspace.com/ef 62. Daniel Johnston "Songs Of Pain" ![]() Daniel Johnston's always kind of been an artists artist though he has somewhat of a cult following. Hes been acclaimed by everyone from grunge musicians Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder to classic rocker David Bowie to indie veterans Sonic Youth, Beck, Yo La Tengo and the Flaming Lips and to current indie sensations Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie and Okkervil River. Daniel Johnston's legendary debut, mainly piano driven with his childish voice and painful lyrics. The album was recorded in his parents basement, in between songs you can occasionally hear recordings of his mother tearing into him. He considered himself very Lennon and Beatles influenced, though its very hard to tell where his influences actually came from. This album is brilliant and heartbreakingly direct in places, and its exactly what it promises, songs of pain. Favorite Song: Grievances MySpace.com - Daniel Johnston - WALLER, Texas - Pop - www.myspace.com/danielsgrievances 61. Amanda Woodward "La Decadence de la Decadence" ![]() Best french band ever? Yes, this album has lately become my favorite emo album just because I think its near perfect. I don't have much to say about this other then I rarely listen to emo anymore or even hardcore and I still play this album fairly regularly. Favorite Song: Binaire et lisible MySpace.com - Amanda Woodward - - Hardcore / Indie / Screamo - www.myspace.com/amandawoodwardband 60. Built To Spill "Theres Nothing Wrong With Love" ![]() Built To Spill on the outside appear to be an friendly accessible indie-pop-rock band, typical lyrical subjects, nice sound, slightly whiny voice, but on the inside its surprisingly complex. The crazy time signatures and chord progressions that most bands wouldn't dare touch and lyrical themes that upon reading are surprisingly intelligent take on a common subject. Favorite Song: Car MySpace.com - Built To Spill - Boise, US - Indie - www.myspace.com/builttospill |

59. The Fiery Furnances "Gallowsbird's Bark"
![]() I had heard Tropical Ice-land and thought it was a nice song, she had an amazing voice and the music was beautiful. I put off checking them out for a long time, but I noticed the album in a record store and thought 'What the hell? I have the cash' and bought it. I was going to throw in a few sentences to add on to that useless story but thats not interesting to anyone. So to make it short I got it in 05, quit listening to it and got it out again about a month ago. The lyrics are often unpredictable, they're basically skewed sepia vignettes with locations dropped in. The album is full of wonderful experimental pop songs, and is an amazing listening all the way through though the second half of the album is much better. So you can put it on and expect it to get better and better. Favorite Song: Tropical Ice-land MySpace.com - The Fiery Furnaces - New York, New York - Rock - www.myspace.com/thefieryfurnaces 58. Animal Collective "Strawberry Jam" ![]() This is my favorite Animal Collective album and it's the album that actually opened the door for me to really really get into them. I'd had Feels for awhile but i'd never fallen in love with it i'd just liked it. So I didn't get Strawberry Jam for awhile (mistake) but when I did I was surprised to find I really liked it. After sleeping with it for a few weeks I put on Feels again and liked it, but not as much as Strawberry Jam. A cookie to you Animal Collective. Favorite Song: Fireworks MySpace.com - Animal Collective - BALTIMORE, Maryland - Concrete / Soul / Visual - www.myspace.com/animalcollectivetheband 57. Wilco "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" ![]() Light up a cigarette and get yourself some coffee or alcohol its Wilco time! Gentle acoustic ballads with Tweedy's quirky lyrics but! This time Wilco ventures a bit more and moves from their sound a bit incorporating different elements that some found annoying others found refreshing. Favorite Song: I Am Trying to Break Your Heart MySpace.com - WILCO - CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - Rock / Acoustic / Alternative - www.myspace.com/wilco 56. Paul Baribeau "Paul Baribeau" ![]() Creating simple, amateur folk songs in vein of singer/songwriters like Daniel Johnston Paul Baribeau would probably make the average folk fan cringe, however thats the charm to it. With his screaming about heartbreak and basic guitar chords hes much more relatable than your Jeff Buckley's of the world. Favorite Song: When You Go Back To College MySpace.com - Paul Baribeau - Midwest - Folk Rock / Pop / Acoustic - www.myspace.com/paulbaribeau |
