Default Artists w/the Greatest Change-ups?

Who are some artists who displayed the most radical change in musical direction over a series of albums? For better or for worse. I.E .The Meat Puppets.

Meat Puppets I - Hard-Core
Meat Puppets II - Cow Punk
Upon the Sun - Psychedelic Country Rock

In a matter of three releases, the Puppets when from sounding retarded to refined.

I gotta get back into Zappa. I'm putting "Hot Rats" and "One Size Fits All" on the short list for purchases. Bob Dylan did a big twist becoming born-again on Slow Train Coming/Saved/Shot of Love (Christian Rock), then did the big un-twist on "Infidels" .

I saw the title and thought this was about bands who'd changed members a lot in their time, and was ready with the obvious response..."THE FALL". They could still fit this thread though, they've covered a fair bit of musical ground in their time.

Meat Puppets' first album rules.

Every Ulver album is different, which is pretty much the reason why they are one of my favorite bands.

I think everyone who appreciates music should have at least one Zappa album in their collection.
