I don't even mean in a bad way really. I'm just saying if you post on a site like this regularly you're obviously very into music and people who are super-passionate about music are definitely what the rest of the world thinks of as music snobs.

In the original post, does anyone else think that person #2 turns out to be just as much of a music snob as the intended music snob? I mean being incredibly hostile toward the "music snob" and insulting him/her and dissing the band they like?

Oh, definitely. One time (not on this site) I posted a song in a "Song of the Day" topic and I posted something from Voodoo Records. I said, "Death Blues? Sure Alright". Simply because they have a lot of funny names like that describing their music and he completely lost it. He thought I was one of those people who, for example, labeled a Grindcore song as "Death Thrash Hard Cyber Grind" or something. He just went off on how music is just expression and it can't be labeled (when he does it all the time with **** I never even heard of). It pissed me off a good bit but I called him a cum guzzling faggot and felt better then.

If I rewrote webster's dictionary, the definition for music snob would plain and simply be a link to Pitchfork.

Being anti-all things popular and being a music snob are different though, in some ways. But they can cross over. Pitchfork seem like c*nts. I never really knew about them before I started to listen to 'Wavves'.

Never said I wasn't a snob myself. But at least I have good taste in music, what's your excuse?
I'm kidding about that last part, don't hurt me =( |

Snobbery is easily avoided by considering all styles of creating sound.
