Richard Davis' bass on Astral Weeks is sublime. It transforms The Way Young Lovers Do from a sappy song to a classic track.

Unless I missed it, I'm very surprised nobody has mentioned The Real Me by the Who. That's the first song I always think of when bass is mentioned.

Jah Wobble is one of the reason I started playing bass. I remember hearing First Issue and being blown away not by the guitar but by the dub bass. Metal Box is also filled with great dub bass, Swan Lake & Memories.
