True. In the real world I'm surrounded by people who listen to music that makes it into the charts and little else. These people tend not to use the site. On last.fm bands that have little or no success in the UK are high in the user charts and so all of the fashionable self-proclaimed indie kids get sad because they're not as special as they once thought.

I think it's interesting seeing how much people care about being 'mainstream' and how much of a blow to their egos it is if they are. You like your music, if it's 'mainstream' according to Last.FM who gives a crap? It's just interesting to see how many people listen to your music too.
