Best Debut Albums: Final Round: Final Poll
Alright, we're down to the last 5. Heres what happens, all five of these albums get recognized and are ranked according to how many votes they got. (most votes = first, least = fifth, etc)
I vote for the Smiths. |
I had to go with Hendrix, as much as I love every one of those albums. Fire Purple Haze, Foxey Lady, Are You Experienced, Manic Depression, Hey Joe...
Definitely Slanted and Enchanted, such an amazing album.
Funeral. it's almost level...
Poor VU+Nico...
Hendrix.
*pumpsfist*
Yes, Hendrix is winning!
I'm gonna have to vote Hendrix.
Oh yah! Best posthumous album would be an interesting poll as well.
Awww, I missed out on the original votes to get down to a final 5. I've gone for Funeral out of that lot, though.
I'm listening to Funeral right now.
Just to see what the fuss is about. The only other album I know little about in this final poll is Slanted and Enchanted. Arcade Fire? Am I impressed? Not really...it's not providing me with anything I've not heard before. It's not worthy of being alongside the likes of Are You Experienced, The Smiths or VU & Nico...IMO. |
I think the big thing with Arcade Fire is the energy that comes across when you listen to Funeral. The tunes are good, of course, but there's something extra. I think so, anyway. I would...

No one yet.

i dunno lol ¯\(º_o)/¯
Granted, this is a first listen. Even so I'm not feeling this "energy".
For a debut album it seems musically accomplished enough, but it lacks the obvious impact I'd expect from a contender for best debut album ever. It certainly doesn't compare to a whole list of albums I could conjure up off the top of my head that failed to make the final poll. I'm struggling to choose between the three choices I mentioned earlier. |
Hendrix! You know you wanna'!

Should I bother voting?
naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Not if you don't vote for Hendrix!
OK voted...it's in the blood. *shrugs*
:pimp:
I'm suprised you don't like Funeral. I love all those albums meself. |
I'm not disliking it. I just don't think it's a particularly brilliant album by comparison.

Pavement with The Clash. |
You chose the correct album right-track, Morrissey would be proud.
hendrix all the way!
Jimmy it is
Right lets see......
Arcade Fire "Funeral" Decent enough , best ever debut album? not a chance Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced?" Probably deserves to be here when you consider it's impact. One of the more worthy albums on the list Pavement "Slanted and Enchanted" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Sorry but it's going to take more than a bunch of rehashed Fall riffs to impress me. Smiths, The "The Smiths" Another one worthy of being on here & I probably listen to it more than any other on the list Velvet Underground, The "Velvet Underground & Nico" Groundbreaking , innovative , radical ... but I still think it's sh*t. Smiths for me I think. |
