Default What If Robert Smith Fronted A Country/Rock Band?

Sounds pretty fucked huh??

If it were to happen it would probably sound like The Old 97's. Not all the songs sound like Smith on vox but that was the first thing I thought of after listening to this album, and as a bonus this album is really really fucking good. Clever songwriting and catchy hooks abound on this album and it is a great listen all the way through, after the albums completion I was left with one thought: Get MORE!!!!

Check it out fer yerselves and if you need more ask

The Old 97's - Too Far To Care

Not that anybody is going to check it out but here's another album, I haven't listened to this one yet.

The Old 97's - Drag It Up

Download both and discuss

Too Far To Care is an amazing album

Later stuff is decent, miss the raw country punk of Too Far To care though

Why is it that a country/rock band cannot exist without the word punk being thrown into the mix?

Not that I agree or disagree with it but it just seems strange, this is about as far away from punk as you can get. And so far Too Far To Care is my fave as well.

I have all the albums, do you need any?

BTW: am I way out in left field about the Robert Smith reference or is it just me?

I'm a little like Donny and Marie cuz I'm a little bit Country and a little bit Rock and Roll, I like to dip my foot in both streams if you will
