LesPaul and Jackhammer's Compilation Thread
This thread has the same jyst of Crowquill and JJJ's thread. Hopefully we can do some compilations for some different kind of artists. And hopefully this all works out.
I'll start it off.. Wu-Tang Clan http://img.mp3sugar.com/artist/artist_973.jpg 1. Rules 2. As High as Wu-Tang Get 3. Triumph 4. Gravel Pit 5. The Projects 6. Bring Da Ruckus 7. C.R.E.A.M. 8. Da Mystery of Chessboxin' 9. Method Man Genre - Rap/Hip Hop Upload : hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?dldipmadgnd |
wtf
no "wu tang clan aint nuthin to **** with"? |
I sort of figured anyone who had the slightest interest in Hip Hop had heard that song anyways. Plus all these songs are just as good if not better. But I know what you mean, its like an Anthem that really shows what Wu Tang is.

no shimmy shimmy yah by ODB? what about Winter Warz? you're killing me scotty. |
K, if I added all the dope Wu-Tang songs to this compilation i'd have like 40 songs. Which is a little overwhelming to someone who is newly checking them out. And shimmy shimmy ya would have phu sho made a list if I was making an ODB comp. But this is just Wu-Tang.
|
This next one I limited to only 7 tracks because this band has only put out 2 albums and if someone likes it, I'd like to leave them a lot of other songs to still hear, which are really all equally as good.
Circa Survive http://www.equalvision.com/media/artists/9.jpg Genre - Progressive Rock/Post-Emo ( Hard band to categorize ) 1.Act Appalled 2.The Greatest Lie 3.The Glorious Nosebleed 4.The Great Golden Baby 5.Semi Constructive Critisism 6.Stop the Fuckin Car (Later changed to just "Stop the Car") 7.Kicking your Crosses Down. Favourite Song : Semi Constructive Critisism Upload : hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?eeyokjs2n1y |
A few of my faves are on their way! Everybody groan!
|
That Circa Survive comp is hot i'm tempted to download it even though I already have all the songs.

His reggae music is pushing towards dub and creates an easy vibe. Smoking music-literally! |

C'mon people! If you want to get into new music, here's a small taster of what's out there!
|
Also im sure the majority of you people on this forum are aware of the bands that Myself and Jackhammer listen to..and if there is a band in particular that you would like a compilation of..Im sure either of us would be more than happy to fill the request.
|
I'm downloading the Portugal comp now, reggae and such has never been my cup of tea but I'll check at one or two of them.
|
I think that you'll like the Portugal a lot Dave.
|
I'm listening to Church Mouth and it's pretty groovy, not at all what I was expecting. Now listening to Telling Tellers Tell Me and it sounds like a groove version of The White Stripes. I'm liking it, I'll listen to more tomorrow, but I have some work to do now.

LAMB
http://www.gorecki.co.uk/images/misc/ellis1.jpg Genre: Trip Hop, Electronica, Ambient, Jazz Breaks. Location:U.K Lamb a two piece compromising of Andy Barlow (Keys, Programming) and Louise Rhodes (vocals) seemed to be dragged into the Trip Hop explosion of the mid 90's in Britain, but they were always so much more than that. Louise's ethereal vocals backed up by Andy's off kilter rythmns which were influenced more by classical strings and jazz, were more than the typical dance/dub sounds around at the time. Their music ranges from the stunningly beautiful (Gabriel) to the abstract (Lusty). This is the full tracklisting as some tracks have no tags due to the fact that they have been on my PC since whenever. 1.TRANS-FATTY ACID (Kruder and Dorfmeister Remix) 2.ONE 3.LUSTY 4.WHAT SOUND 5.HEAVEN 6.GORECKI 7.GOD BLESS 8.BONFIRE 9.GABRIEL hxxp://www.badongo.com/file/4530735 |
I think if a quick link for people could be added, then it might persuade them to download our compilations. Here is the shortened version of the truly brilliant GORECKI by LAMB.
|
1. Transfatty Acid [Kruder and Dorfmeister Remix Edit]
It doesn't really strike me as much, nice vocals and the music was okay. I wish the drums had been quieter though. 2. One I liked this one better, the music was much more balanced here but i'm still not a huge fan. Its interesting and all, but not really my thing. 3. Lusty I liked this one less than One, it was too drum heavy and I didn't care for the beat at all. 4. What Sound I really liked this, the vocals reminded me ALOT of Marianne Faithfull. My favorite so far. 5. Heaven I liked this one alot too. 6. Gorecki Vocally I think this is my favorite so far, and lyrically. Fuck, musically too. This is my favorite so far. 7. God Bless I wasn't as keen on this one, it's still good. 8. Bonfire I liked this one alot too, especially the piano. 9. Gabriel Beautiful song, this is my favorite. Summary: Good band. I think this compilation gave me all I want for now though since its something I couldn't see myself listening to regularly however when i'm in the right mood i'd listen to this. |
^^^
Thanks for listening. GABRIEL is indeed beautiful and GORECKI is one of those tracks that just builds and builds. I will return the favour and review Elliott Smith in the same manner. |
ROOTS MANUVA
http://www.bigbaer.com/assets/roots-...ully-de-ep.jpg Genre:Hip-Hop/Dub/Soundsystem Country:U.K Roots Manuva is one of the UK's leading exponents of Hip Hop with his track WITNESS earning the accolade of #1 UK Hip Hop track from Hip-Hop Magazine. His music has a british slant where it is influenced by dub and reggae more so than the the funk/soul that influences a lot of U.S Hip Hop acts. 1.Witness (One Hope) 2.Cause 4 Pause 3.Join The Dots 4. Rebel Heart 5.Dub Styles 6.the Falling 7.Swords In The Dirt 8.Highest Grade 9.Dem phonies 10.Strange Behaviour 11.Clockwork 12.Cornmeal Dumpling hxxp://www.badongo.com/file/4555907 |
I am gonna check this out later when I get home from basketball practice.

damn lee,
roots manuva is surprisingly icy :D |
I guess KRS does'nt like it then? Oh well shít happens.
|
Can we still do this considering the current climate. I would love to up a comp but not so sure.
|
Yeah you can, since it's not complete albums and it's just a small assembling of various tracks its ok.
|
Thanks Ethan. Although judging by the download count for previous comp's, I don't know whether to bother! Even if it's an artist I'm not sure about musically, or I don't know much about; I endeavour to hear as much new music as possible.
|
I'll be putting a compilation up soon enough.

UNDERWORLD
http://images.vpro.nl/images/1817586+s(468) Underworld challenge the misconception that Electronic bands lack depth, emotion and musicianship. This compilation (the first of two) showcases their experimental side. Some tracks could arguably sit proud in a post rock compilation and show a versatility in Underworlds music that is undervalued and underappreciated. I am really hoping that Ethan will give this a listen as I know he is'nt the biggest electronic fan, but i think this could be a little step to change his mind! Genre:Electronica/Post/Experimental. 1. To Heal 2. Glam Bucket 3. Skymn 4. Ess Gee 5. Ballet Lane 6. Push Downstairs 7. Best Mamgu Ever 8. Banstyle/Sappy's Curry 9. Tongue Download:hxxp://www.badongo.com/file/5278076 |
It's nice stuff, I preferred the more mellow ambientish stuff, like I didn't care for the ending in Glam Bucket but all in all I dig it.
|
I had a tracklisting worked out, but when i compressed it it changed the tracklisting gggrrr.

I am so surprised by the lack of response to these sort of threads. Even if it's not your sort of genre. Listen to the tracks and hear something new. Isnt that what music is all about? I can handle it if you dislike it. A listen would be great! |
I'll do a TFOT one tomorrow. Im sure most people have already listened to them..but some may not have..and of course need to.
