I may even squeeze in a Dream city Film Club one too. The best 90's British alt band you have never heard of.

If LesPaul (he posted it, rite?) could up that Portugal. The Man comp for me that would great. I've been meaning to listen to them since I heard one of their songs on Last.fm. It reminded me of The Mars Volta, though I'm sure that's not uncommon.

Church Mouth by them is a great album although not as progressive as Mars Volta. I keep meaning to check out more Portugal. The Man.

Alfred 10-09-2008 02:11 PM

Well, I can start with that then. Thanks.

I have done a thread on these but it got lost in the mire so I am using this as a chance to big up them again. DCFC came out towards the tail end of Brit Pop and their sound which refused to adhere to classic Rock stereotypes, meant that they never got the recognition that they deserved. Alternating from a Sonic Youth-esque noise to delicate but hate filled balladry and throwing in a little bit of JAMC via Big Black. They sound nothing like these bands but their own thing entirely. What have you got to lose? Listen fuckers.

Tracklisting:

1) Night Of Nights
2) Nerveshot
3) Billy Chic
4) Filth Dealer
5) Fuck It Up
6) Mama
7) Situation
8) God Will Punish The Pervert Preacher
9) If I Die I Die
10)Teenage Wife

jackhammer 10-10-2008 04:44 PM

Nobody want to hear DCFC at least? I despair. I really do.

Akira 10-10-2008 04:45 PM

I downloaded it but not had a chance to listen properly yet.

Cheers for the link.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Just for you. America had Sonic Youth, we had My Bloody Valentine.

lucifer_sam 10-10-2008 05:46 PM

I don't want to hear Sonic Youth, either. Lo-fi noise rock just gets boring too quickly.

The Flaming Lips?

jackhammer 11-23-2008 09:21 AM

Bump

Demonoid 11-25-2008 01:31 PM

Well, since no one has requested anything yet, how about a ska compilation.(and not Ska-punk)
Could be various artists or same artist. I really haven't explored much there.
I'm downloading The Roots and Dream city film club compilation now btw :).

jackhammer 11-25-2008 01:46 PM

I could sort one of those out. No Reggae or Dub either?

Demonoid 11-25-2008 02:07 PM

Well, I guess they're all kinda linked, but more reggae/dub is always a good thing :D. So yeah, anything without much of the punk influences.

jackhammer 11-25-2008 02:25 PM

Give me 24 hours as someone has my external HD at the moment so I just need to locate some rar files. It will be worth the wait.
