On the D/L now. Why not give my LAMB compilation a go Crowquill? I know you are not big on Electronica, but you may well like them.

The track GABRIEL (last one) is worth anyone's time. It's one of the most beautiful songs I have heard both musically and lyrically.

Elliott Smith:
1) Waltz#2. Great production, but very repetitive. It does'nt seem to go anywhere. 2)Baby Britain. The arrangement reminds me of an English sensibility. Hooked me in a little. 3)Shooting Star. I like the guitars on this track. I would like to hear a change in tempo in his vocal delivery. This would break the track up a little. 4)Dancing On The Highway. Very hypnotic. Simplistic yet effective. The best so far. 5)Twilight. Once again the production is brilliant. So rich and textured. The keyboards drifting in really lift the song well. 6).All Cleaned Out. Does'nt do much for me at all. 7)Pitseleh. I love the rythmn of this song and the guitar licks. The piano has added another dimension. A great song. 8)True Love. I'm finding his vocal phrasing far too nice for this song, I can't hear the highs and lows. A little monotonous for me vocally. 9)Bye. Sounds like an interlude on a movie soundtrack. Not impressed. 10)King's Crossing. A glorious track. it builds and then drops. Just what I love in music. All in all, I like what he does, but I think vocally his range is limited. Not musically but emotionally. Compared to say JEFF BUCKLEY, his voice is monotone. I want him to tell me how he really feels . I will investigate more.

Elliott Smith wasn't much of a singer, he's a voice you have to like he didn't have much range really. Theres a few live tracks where i've heard him cut loose (Yer Blues cover) but I don't think he could've pulled it off well with his own stuff. He knew his vocal limitations and did he best with it.
